We did it!

Our class won the coveted Hospitality Suite Award for our 25th Reunion. And I mean to tell you, we pulled out all the stops. It was definitely a team effort.

Our Reunion Weekend swung into high gear Friday afternoon as classmates gathered at the Hospitality Suite in Founder's Hall. Our Hospitality Suite centerpiece was the masterfully decorated urinal which appears at the left. It appeared to be a hit with all classes, especially spouses of earlier classes. Although it may seem odd, there is some significance to the choice.

WPI had only recently gone co-ed when our class arrived on campus in September of 1971. Female students in earlier classes, due to their smaller numbers, did not reside in the residence halls (we referred to them as dorms). However, due to the number of female students in the class of 1975, the first floor of Sanford-Riley became the co-ed dorm. Obviously, the bathrooms were not to be remodeled at such an early stage of the transition, so those bathrooms were equiped with fixtures that were of little use. Little use, of course, except to be adorned with flowers.

When Riley was remodeled several years ago, all urinals were removed and discarded, except for one. One was set aside to be raffled off at our 25th Reunion. This was a closely guarded secret. Only three people knew of the plan. But as luck would have it, three weeks before Reunion, plant services advised us that the urinal was nowhere to be found. Admittedly, there was a tremendous sense of loss, momentarily, but thanks to the American Standard Plumbing Museum, we had a centerpiece. OK, so it didn't look exactly like the ones removed from Riley, but its the thought that counts.

Needless to say, it was indeed the talk of the Reunion. I would even bet that our hospitality suite had the heaviest traffic of all classes. But then, what else would you expect from the Class of 1975.

Thanks to Ginny and John Fitzpatrick, we had numerous items of memorabilia to sift though. Front page of the Telegram... NIXON RESIGNS. Remember our yearbook. Wasn't there something different about it? Bernie Brown even brought down contracts from concerts held on campus while we were there.

All classes participate in the Reunion parade on Saturday. Something was conspicuous by its absence - our class banner. Has it turned up yet?

Well, here we are... Finally got everyone together in one place just prior to the class banquet. Not bad for our 25th...

Caught in the act... of dancing, of course. Denise Gorski, our Reunion Chair, and John Fitzpatrick, our Reunion Anniversary Gift Chair, kick up their heels in a celebration of a job well done.

All good things must come to an end... No all-nighters. That was 25 years ago. But hey, we get to do it again in five years.

See you then.
