206. CALLING YOUR BLUFF           (aka "To B or not to B") |
A little bit of "hocus pocus" in CT |
When bunches of boxes "went missing" recently in some of the more popular letterboxing spots in CT, we really admired the response of folks who went right back out there and planted more boxes like Chuck's "Portrait of a Letterbox Thief", Rubaduc's "Seal of Approval for Replanting" and Hez, Grumpy and Mona's "Defiant Mona", so, we, too, decided to post a little letter of admonition to would be letterbox thieves with this tidbit called "Calling Your Bluff"!
Somewhere within the northern loop of one of CT's popular letterboxing areas is a warning sign that says "Do not disturb", surrounded by a metal fence. If you are a letterbox thief, stand on the trail on the south side of that fence, take 14 steps at 140 degrees, turn around, drop to the ground and give us 140 push-ups while staring at that sign. Even if the message sinks in, you will not find a letterbox. and if you feel the need to claw, scratch or gnash your teeth, that's just fine with us!
Letterboxers, however, need only produce a small pad of black ink, a piece of paper and one push-up to get what they came for! And that rock is not going anywhere soon, so, the question remains: To "B" or not to "B"??
If you decide to "B", let us know so we can list your name here rather than on any other database. We rather dislike seeing boxes listed as "attempted" especially when they're still there, or listing other boxes as "found", when the searchers aren't even looking in the right state! Of course, if you decide not to "B", that's fine too!
Whatever you do, just have fun, B happy, and don't B discouraged!
