Painting with Pixels

Here's some stuff I created with Adobe Photoshop and JASC Paint Shop Pro. Some of the recent images may appear a little fuzzy. These are reduced in size from their originals, which are usually 1024 x 768 px. Full-sized, high-quality JPG versions of these images would be around 500 K. Feel free to email me for the original BMP if you'd like to use something here as a Windows background. If you download any of these, please have the courtesy not to remove my name from the lower corner - I'd like to get credit for them. Also, please send me any comments or criticisms you may have. I crave feedback of every kind.

Greenish Metal - 73 K

Here's another one designed to be a desktop image. I like the relatively muted colors that I used for this one, which are a change from my usual sharp contrasts.

Stressed Metal Gateway - 100 K

Even more fun with damaged gradients. This was also designed to be a desktop image.

Incandescence - 49 K

Here's Blinky in flames. This is the full-sized version of the intro graphic on the main page, without the border. I still consider this to be my signature piece.

Oct Dark - 54 K

Welcome to R'Lyeh. The management accepts no resposibility for any insanity that you may suffer as a result of your stay.

Curled Flame Weave - 85 K

I made this one to be a desktop background at work, where I have a black monitor. Somehow, it loses something on a beige one. Still, I think this one's nifty.

Pad Werewolf #1 - 111 K

This is the first werewolf I drew with my Wacom Intuos graphics tablet. I haven't had a lot of time to play with it yet, but it promises to be nifty.

Jellyfish - 56 K

Here's a somewhat stylized jellyfish. I was experimenting with ways to get a sort of luminescent effect, and I figured there was no better subject matter for that sort of thing than jellyfish.

Jellyfish Beta - 64 K

Here's another, even more stylized jellyfish. I eventually hope to combine the two different effects shown in these images into one.

Frozen Airlock - 110 K

These sorts of things remind me of the multi-ringed interface ports or locks in the Star Wars films. You know, the ones that R2-D2 fiddles with? Anyway, I get a sort of "door" impression from this, so I called it an airlock.

Curved Strands - 77 K

I made this to serve as a desktop image at work. The circular blobs and some of the line intersections correspond to the location of desktop icons on the screen.

Cold Grey Wheel - 85 K

I've made a lot of images like this, which I refer to as "Wheels." They vary in shape and texture/color, but this particular shape is one of my favorites. This one isn't very colorful, but I like the stone texture. One of my other hobbies is creating continuous, tiling images, and I tend to use them to create the consistant textures for these images.

Bronze Wheel - 55 K

Perhaps it doesn't really look like bronze, but I tend to title things whatever occurs to me at the time. This means that some titles make no sense to anyone but me. Actually, there are also times that I don't know what I was thinking either.

Wooden Wheel - 106 K

This is bit brighter than most of the other wheels I've created, but sometimes even I need a break from creating forbidding alien objects. It reminds me of wood that's been stained different colors, though it also feels a bit woven to me.

Orange Plastic Razors - 113 K

This one has a sinister feel to it despite the bright colors. The central rings in particular look very sharp, so this one ends up as "razors."

Plastic Vortex - 74 K

Here's one of my more complex wheels. This is an enduring favorite of mine, from a period during which I was making a lot of whirlpool-like images and gateways.
